Package focus

A simple, loud setup for house parties, birthdays, and small events.

Before you begin

Choose a safe position, then check every item is there.

What's included

  • 1x 10m IEC Cable
  • 1x EV ZLX-12 G2 Speaker Cover
  • 1x EV ZLX-12P G2 12" Speaker
  • 1x Gravity GBGSS2B Carry Bag
  • 1x Gravity GSP5211B Tripod Speaker Stand

Good setup position

  • Choose a flat, stable position for the speaker stand.
  • Place the speaker at the front or side of the room, facing guests.
  • Keep the speaker away from drinks, doors, and busy walkways.
  • Keep the power cable close enough to a plug socket that it is not stretched.
  • Leave enough room around the stand so it cannot be knocked over.

Setup steps

Set up the speaker, then test the room.

Step 1

Set up the speaker stand

  1. Place the Gravity speaker stand on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Loosen the leg adjustment knob.
  3. Spread the tripod legs fully.
  4. Tighten the leg adjustment knob so the stand is stable.
  5. Adjust the height if needed.
  6. Tighten the height adjustment knob securely.

Do not make the stand too high. For most rooms, having the speaker slightly above head height is enough.

Step 2

Put the speaker on the stand

The speaker is heavy, so use two people if needed.

  1. Remove the speaker from its cover.
  2. Lift the speaker carefully.
  3. Lower it onto the pole at the top of the stand.
  4. Make sure the speaker is fully seated on the stand.
  5. Turn the speaker so the front grille faces the guests.
  6. Tighten the knob on the bottom of the speaker so it grips securely onto the stand.

Do not move the stand around once the speaker is mounted.

Step 3

Position the speaker

  1. Face the speaker towards the area where guests will be listening or dancing.
  2. Keep the speaker away from corners if the bass sounds too heavy.
  3. Keep the speaker away from tables, drinks, and places people will lean.
  4. Make sure the stand still feels stable after positioning.
  5. Keep the back of the speaker easy to reach so you can adjust volume if needed.

For most house parties and smaller rooms, one clear forward-facing position works best.

Step 4

Connect power

  1. Make sure the speaker is switched off.
  2. Plug the power cable into the back of the speaker.
  3. Plug the other end into a mains socket.
  4. Keep the power cable tucked safely out of the way where possible.
  5. Do not switch the speaker on yet.

Avoid stretching cables across walkways. Use tape or cable covers if a cable has to cross a walking route.

Step 5

Option 1: connect by Bluetooth

For a simple party setup, Bluetooth from a phone, tablet, or laptop is usually the easiest option.

  1. Turn the speaker on using the power switch on the back.
  2. On the back of the speaker, tap the Bluetooth button once until it lights up.
  3. Press and hold the Bluetooth button for around 5 seconds.
  4. Open Bluetooth settings on your phone, tablet, or laptop.
  5. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
  6. Look for the EV ZLX speaker in the list of available devices.
  7. Tap the EV ZLX speaker to pair.
  8. Once connected, open your music app.
  9. Play a test track quietly.
  10. Check that audio is coming through the speaker.

If the speaker does not appear, turn Bluetooth off and on again on your device, move closer to the speaker, and try pairing mode again.

Step 6

Option 2: connect a wired music source

Use this option for a laptop, controller, mixer, or other audio device with a suitable output cable.

  1. Start with the music source volume turned down and the speaker volume turned down.
  2. Connect your audio cable from the music source output to an input on the back of the speaker.
  3. Turn the speaker on if it is not already on.
  4. Start a track quietly on your music source.
  5. Slowly raise the music source volume.
  6. Slowly raise the speaker input and main volumes until the room level is clear.

Only connect equipment you know how to use safely. If the sound distorts, turn the music source volume down first.

Step 7

Set the volume

  1. Start with the volume low on your music source and speaker.
  2. Play a track you know well.
  3. Raise the speaker gradually until the music is clear.
  4. Walk around the room and check the volume.
  5. Make small changes and test again.

The speaker should sound clear and comfortable for the room, not harsh or distorted.

Step 8

Test before guests arrive

  1. Play a full track at a normal listening level.
  2. Check the speaker is working clearly.
  3. Walk to the back of the room and check the music is still clear.
  4. Check that no cables are creating trip hazards.
  5. Listen for distortion and turn the volume down if the sound becomes harsh or unclear.

If the room is small, keep the main speaker volume lower and use your music device for fine adjustments.

Step 9

Turn the system off in the right order

  1. Turn down the speaker volume.
  2. Stop the music on your phone, tablet, laptop, or controller.
  3. Turn off the speaker.
  4. Unplug cables only after the speaker is off.

Turning the volume down first helps avoid loud pops or sudden noise.
